Brand Ambassodor- a second job for players

Brand Ambassador- a second job for Players

 Hey Flavours...

In recent times so many brands are looking to up the competition in the market to the consumer's delight. What better way to promote your product or service than using a famous face such as soccer players? We have seen so many PSL players endorsing brands such as Vaseline, Shield, nedbank, Brothers for Life just to mention a few. These brands obviously take soccer players who are more "famous" or rather good at what they do but I could be wrong. Players like Andile Jali, Itumeleng Khune, Teko Modise and Siphiwe Tshabalala to mention just a few.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Brands neglegence

Do you think it shifts their focus from football? Many of this footballers think they have arrived when they get such endorsements and tend to turn away from the game itself. Taking into consideration that what brought them close to the brands was the soccer in the 1st place. One can argue that they deserve these big brands making them ambassadors since they sweated to get where they are.
What do you think Flavours? Lets get the ball rolling...

  1. I totally disagree with you these brands know what they are doing and its not their fault that these players that they have endorsed in decide to play otherwise. The fault is with the players because they start playing arrogantly beacause of their endorsement deals.

  2. Being an influencer or running some endorsement dealings is absolutely good for everyone's carreer even being an ambassodor for a particular brand is good but the main problem is that players tend to forget about their first love at some point and fame mess their heads up, thats the only problem about being a brand ambassodor actually thats what i think.!

  3. Refiloe I guess you are right in a way. Everyone has a responsibility to their career but it seems as if all this organisation care about is their brands and not the well being of those who are endorsing them. For instance the reason they took this players in the first place was because of the good job they do on the field. What they do is they dump them the minute they start playing otherwise.

    1. I agree with you that most brands care about themselves and not as much as they should for the person endorsing their brand. Why would you endorse your brand on someone who is not providing positive publicity for your brand?

  5. being an ambassador while being a soccer icon is good for business because your brand wil sell more because the soccer player you would have chosen is a role model to many. This does not shift their focus on football though.

  6. It's good that some soccer players perform so well on the feild in a way that they gain recognition by other brands plus its a bonus for the soccer players to expand they brand.

  7. Endorsements are goood they enhance the image of the brand as well as generate attention towards the personality chosen for that brand so I would'nt say that soccer players shift their focus on soccer while being brand ambassodors

  10. Mamoshe I am stressing on the issue of these brands only caring about their products and once this "stars" lose focus on the field they ditch them. Good business strategy for them but what about the player's career?

  11. Soccer players themselves are responsible to keep the brand alive and the way to do that is do thier best on and off the field.

  13. Bernard Parker is also featured in that 'Clere Active' commercial. so from where I am seated it should be the other way around. because it also boils down to how well players perform because that's one of the leading factors for them into securing these commercials & how you conduct yourself off the field. If a player is focused/doesn't get complacent then he can use those endosement into bettering/improving his chances of going up the rank. Look at Itu or Sabba for example they are now continental and global brands they are known almost everywhere. Yet, they have been behaving like true professionals and have been showing more commitment and dedication in what they do ..so I think the environment and the support structures that are put in place can/have helped in assisting the players to be fully focused in their careers!
